View Point… Meaning of the word: International
I got an opportunity to work in Seattle. It was my first onsite assignment.
So, let me start from the point I left Chennai International Airport. It was for the first time in my life I entered into an international airport. It felt good. I was quite impressed with the stores inside the airport. I was thinking so this is international. I got my flight, reached Bangkok. (My flight was eastwards, ie., Chennai to Bangkok, Bangkok to Tokyo, Tokyo to Seattle). When I entered into the Bangkok airport, I was shell shocked!! Wot I witnessed was something I wont forget in my life time. The airport was colossal. It was only then I realized the true meaning of the word international. I was not prepared for something like that. The facilities were awesome. The airport was so very clean. Each bay would have been an entire kilometer long (not exaggerating).
Bangkok Airport
Even Tokyo airport is similar. Seattle airport has small connecting electric trains within its campus!! On the other hand, we Indians talk about state of the art Bangalore (Bengaluru) international airport coming up for the past 10 + years. I’ ve heard only the Delhi and Mumbai airports are big, but iam quite sure, they are no match for international airports. Please correct me if I’am wrong.
Bangalore International Airport
Talking about Bangalore International Airport, recently I have read articles stating that the airport would be operational in 2008. Browsed through some websites, looked at some pics. Lets see if this comes up to the international standards. Fingers crossed!!

Hay Mani…i also came across the Bankok and Tokyo airports on my way to SanFrancisco…Bankok airport is realy amazing….its huge (my arrival and departure terminals are 1000 meters apart)…i love that place..i dont think we can compare with any of our airports. Hope our new i
International airports (Hyderabad/Bangalore) will be in that standards!!!
I understand what you felt when you entered that airport. Same here. Heathrow airport in London was where I got into and out of often. Travelling from one gate to another is like having a workout!!!
@ Murali and @ Bala,
I recall that I had missed my connectin flight at Narita airport in Tokyo!! and i was running around that airport. That airport was air-conditioned and i was sweating as i had to run from one corner to another to make it for my next flight!!
@ Murali,
yeah. LEts hope the airports at Hyd and Blore are good..
good article it has a point..
dude kind of felt that you lost the focus in your blog. i loved the art part of it. suggest you to create a separate blog for this one and keep this one as an blog related to paintings and art.
Hi Tapan,
Thanks for the suggestion. I did think about it, in fact that was my initial plan, but decided not to go for it as I realised I wont be able to update my blog regularly with just art work. Perhaps, when I have enough material to post (or already posted) then I shall create separate blogs for art work/photography/general categories.
good updates! so, back to India?
Hi Kaushik,
Thanks for viewing. I have not yet returned to India. No idea when I would get back.
Shall scrap u in orkut.
